Hannah (Olivia Colman) travels to Amsterdam with her nonbinary teen, Frances (Aud Mason-Hyde), to visit her estranged father, Jim (John Lithgow), a vibrant, openly gay man navigating life and love in his later years. When Frances expresses a desire to stay with Jim for a year, Hannah must confront her own beliefs about parenting, family, and identity. Lithgow’s charismatic performance captures Jim’s humor, resilience, and tender guidance, offering both heart and levity. Jimpa is a semi- autobiographical drama about reconciliation, queer identity, and the evolving bonds between parents and children, revealing the courage it takes to embrace love on one’s own terms.
